THEN & NOW

Just when everyone goes gaga with Throwback Thursday, I'm particularly more excited about "then&now".

Here are some of the "then and now" posted on my FB account.

First Visit of the Whole Family to our Home

Sunday, February 23, 2014

As an adult, my only complaint is that we did not have that much family picture.

Having our respective families, I can consider quota na kami.

As we celebrate Sofiel Helene's birthday in Angeles City, the family pictures keep on counting.

***
The trip was long overdue. We set it so many times before it finally happened. When kuya bought his Montero, this was the first time that the whole family (except Aunt Nena) was able to be together.

I can't help but compare it when we were young. My mom usually brought us along to Manila when she reports to her work's Head Office. Those were happy times memories include our dilemma of waking up so early in the morning. We have to be dressed up as early as 5:00AM for out of town trips. I used to think at young age, I could decide on my own the time of departure, when I get older. I was just surprise that I and my siblings were in the same line of thinking. We left Bataan at 12:00NN.

We have kids in the trip - made sure to bring all the things needed by 4-5 year olds and most escpecially, conditioning their moods. I just can not imagine how mom did all of those things when we when young - at 5:00 in the morning.

Guava leaves. Beddings. Plastic bags. Towelettes. Tantrums of the bunso.

DVD ni Elmo

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Para kay Elmo:
TVS means TVSony. Ganito nya tinutukoy ang TV "turn on na natin TVS, Tay."
Then, TVD is DVD. Since pinapanooran din ung portable DVD niya. kala niya TVD.

Later on, mare-realize niya rin ang tamang tawag dito.

When I left my previous work, my wife was already on the family way. Basically, most of the friends I made in that office apparently became Elmo's Ninongs and Ninang. One barkada always invites me to the group's (not the office's) Christmas party. That's they realize that they have to give their inaanak's gift - which were basically ampao.

I even had post on my FB account what was bought from the money, for them to see na hindi ko binulsa ang pera. I got red rubber shoes for Elmo on Christmas 2011.

For Christmas 2012, I planned to buy him a bike as my personal gift. My wife disagreed since this would mean longer time that Elmo's going to stay outside. When the idea of buying portable DVD came out, I was not really keen giving him that as my personal gift. I just decided to purchase that through the Aguinaldos from his Ninongs and Ninangs.

Gelo, Faye and Elmo's Graduation

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

We hardly had family picture growing up.

I don't know.

Technically, the best one that we had was on our kindergarten graduation at the Bataan Infant Jesus School.

This year, three of Carding and Fe's apos had their graduation.

Gelo. Faye and Elmo.

Gelo
At around 4:00pm my sister texted me that I have to rush and attend to gelo's neck tie. it took few more hours that all members of the family (except elmo and tian) are around to witness gelo's graduation. All - include daddy ricky. He may have been absent on ate's and my wedding and other occasions but not on his unico ijo's special day. He especially arranged his vacation in time for this date.

Faye
Around 8:00pm that night, Kuya Rowel, Ate and Faye went home for us to see Faye after her graduation. None of us attended the graduation for one reason. The ceremony has an entrance fee of P100.

Elmo

(in english: I was not informed by the yaya that parent should bring a gift for the child since it's part of the ceremony.)

Elmo's First Family Day

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

I have been too busy lately to write something. I can't even remember when was this.
I attended my son's first ever family day in school.

Growing up, our school did not hold something like that because I went to public school.
I am not sure about my pre-school. I just can't remember.

Days before that, I've been hearing from my office mates about taking few hours off to accommodate their children's family day. I was surprised when I got home that Friday, that Elmo and I are off to attend his.

Should I continue my narrative, i just redundantly write, "I am not sure" or "I can't remember".

What i am sure is that it was on a Sunday to accommodate the working parents. Nonetheless my wife was on duty. I am sharing these photos where we even participated in games.

Our 2012 Senti Season

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

cha nena (tita nena), the one who requested to have pizza hut as our venue
was having good times with her apos, elmo faye and fiel.
Our family had our senti season this year..

I had this FB post on July 18, 2012;

today is a good excuse to be sad and be sentimental.

I live with few regrets. Mas madali na akong pakatanhin in public ngayon. It is not as hard when we were young and had to be pushed to perform on my mother’s birthday celebrations.

My FB post on August 4, 2012;

one proof that time changed - there are more dates to observe: birthdays of kids in the family, wedding anniversary, date employed (para pambilang ng years of service) and death of mom and dad...

mga apo, sa death anniversary ni Lola Fe

I remember asking mommy, did she have her debut party. She said she didn't because of the typhoon and heavy rains. Evidently, we were not able to do one fine way to observe birthday or death anniversary of a departed person, which is to light candle on one's grave.

For this year we had to settle celebrating her birthday at home and death anniversary at Pizza Hut (bonggang bonggang special request of my tita). Basically, the essence of those is to remind us - family, especially brothers and sister, what keeps us together. This is despite having families of our own.
